Dog Training
Thank you for considering Dogs On The Run to help you build a better relationship with your dog. Dogs On The Run offers group classes, private sessions, and a unique service known as "walk & train."
Group Classes
Mastering basic commands is crucial in establishing a sound foundation for life with your dog. Dogs On The Run group classes allow you and your dog to learn and practice behaviors like sit, down, stay, come, focus, and leave it alongside other dogs and their owners. It is an invaluable experience that lets you learn from one another while providing a positive environment for dogs to socialize. Common behavior problems like jumping, biting, digging, and house-training are also addressed.
Private Sessions
Because you and your dog may require special attention that goes beyond the mastery of basic commands, Dogs On The Run offers private consultations. These sessions are catered to your particular needs and will address your specific concerns. Individualized treatment plans are used to assist you and your dog with managing and extinguishing problem behaviors that are unique to your situation. Packages are available.
Walk & Train
Sufficient exercise is one of the most important components of dog ownership. Daily walks are necessary to keep your dog in-shape and out of trouble! Boredom and inactivity are the most common reasons that dogs participate in problem behaviors like barking, digging and chewing. Sometimes, however, daily walks turn into stressful situations when your dog uncontrollably pulls lunges. For dogs that misbehave while on-leash, Dogs On The Run's unique Walk & Train program helps you and your dog to achieve a peaceful loose-leash walking experience.
Meet Our Trainers
Joshua Scarpuzzi
Joshua Scarpuzzi, a third-generation trainer, acquired his passion for animals while growing up around dolphins, orcas, and other exotic animals. Following in his families footsteps, he has worked with dogs, cats, birds, exotics, and even pigs. Due to his variety of experiences, Joshua has developed a wide spectrum of animal behavior knowledge. He began his animal training career at one of JSPA's (Joel Slaven's Professional Animals) live shows, "Pets Rule", at SeaWorld San Diego. Joshua also spent time working at the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, where Josh has been dedicated to providing dogs and cats with a rewarding and enriched life. As an Animal Care Technician, he provided daily training to the shelter animals in his care. His training ensured that these animals were successfully placed in a home and continued to be well-behaved pets. Josh’s experience with aggressive dogs, puppies, and behavioral modification allows him to break down any situation and turn it into a positive experience for you and your dog.
While working alongside experts such as Joel Slaven and Mike Scarpuzzi, Joshua has gained extensive insight into the animal world. His gentle, yet stern, approach to dogs has proven successful and has allowed him to provide animals for film, television, and live shows as well as in-home training here at Dogs On The Run.
